My work explores relationships and how they shape our lives. I focus on connections with family, friends, and animals. These relationships are central to my narrative paintings. I often begin by creating a collage of photos and memories, which serves as a foundation for blending realism with abstraction. This approach is influenced by modern intimism, which emphasizes the emotional depth of intimate, everyday moments.
In my practice, I examine my inner self through these relationships. I aim to merge reality with imagination, focusing on personal narratives that are often overlooked. Using oil and acrylic, I balance abstraction with realism to express the emotional connections between people and moments. Through this, I seek to capture the subtle complexities of human interaction.
Recently, I have expanded my focus to include romantic relationships, exploring the contrast between the intensity and fragility of romantic love and the gentler nature of friendship. I have also started exploring cohabitation by documenting daily experiences through life drawings and personal interviews. This allows me to reflect on the differences between living alone and living with a partner. In doing so, I gain a deeper understanding of how shared experiences influence our sense of identity and connection with others.
Looking forward, I plan to experiment with materials and presentation. I want to explore how texture, form, and the edges of the canvas can affect how a painting is experienced. My goal is to create works that are immersive and invite viewers to engage more deeply with the emotions and stories within the piece.
